PETS CORNER

HAMSTER

Syrian hamsters are cute little rodents and they make excellent pets. The average lifespan of a hamster is 2 years, depending on how well they are looked after. Syrian hamsters are quite short sighted and can only see 15cm's in front of them. They rely on smell and sound, not vision. Because of this sudden movements can frighten hamsters, and if they are frightened they can give a painful bite.
Hamsters are not vicious by nature, and can become very friendly once they get to know their owner. Syrian hamsters come in many colours and sizes, and all of them come out at night. All hamsters have cheek pouches and constantly growing front teeth. They are chewers by nature, and can be very destructive in their cages especially if they are bored. Hamsters should have a nice big cage, and plenty of exercise to keep them happy.
